We’ve had many questions about new weight loss injections such as tirzepatide, semaglutide (Wegovy), and liraglutide. Here's what you need to know:

❌ Not Prescribed by GPs

At present, GPs are not prescribing weight loss injections for obesity.
Although NICE recommends tirzepatide may be used in primary care, this must include ongoing lifestyle support — something general practice currently cannot provide due to capacity limits.

🏥 What’s Changing?

A full review of obesity services in Coventry & Warwickshire is underway. This aims to create a fair, safe, and sustainable way to offer these treatments in the future.

This work is starting soon but will take several months to complete.
